Elliot Klein and X3D have brought high
level chess back to the United States and specifically to New York City.
In the last year they have sponsored the following matches:
1) In December of 2002, It was Kasparov
vs. Karpov in a 4 game rapid match for the X3D championship. This was an exciting match against former World Champions.
This was the 6th match between these two legends. Showing
great tenacity, Karpov won by a score of 2.5 -1.5, with 2 wins, 1 loss and
a draw.
2) In January of 2003, It was Kasparov vs. Deep Junior in a six game
match for the Man vs. Machine World Championship. The match was drawn 3
-3. Both sides with one win a piece.
3) In November of 2003, It was Kasparov vs. X3D Fritz in a four game
match for the Man vs. Machine World Championship in Virtual Reality. This
match was also drawn 2-2, each side with one win a piece. This match
was the purest of the Man Vs. Machine match ups. Kasparov played on a computerized
3d board and spoke his moves to the computer.
Millions of fans got to watch these exciting matches on the
internet. It was a great way to promote this great game.
