excerpts : On behalf of mayor Bloomberg .. we are so delighted to welcome x3d man vs. machine …. Chess is one of the world’s oldest sports going back to the 3rd century. Having the computer challenge the man is very exciting.. years ago it wasn’t very exciting because man was always able to beat the computer ..it's not going to last long …who knows maybe 5 years 10 years maybe sooner the technology will out pace man. I am here to tell you that my experience and most peoples experience man kind could not have a better representative than Garry Kasparov.. We thank Garry for being here . and coming to New York. He was here earlier in the year in a draw…. Which only makes this tournament that more exciting Now with virtual reality x3d has done a great job…. Just a visual treat for everybody …we’re thankful to ESPN for coming forward and recognizing the value of chess, broadcasting it live .it's really great for the sport . We want to thank x3d technologies for once again sponsoring chess in New York City … and all the other people who made this tournament possible .Now I want to introduce to you the greatest chess player of all time my friend Garry Kasparov .
