Maurice Ashley : This has got to be devastating for Kasparov, how he is going to come back from this, is any ones guess. Yassar : I think the mistakes that he made were : 1) he all ready got himself in time trouble. 2) He made this mistake out of confidence, he had already weathered the storm A Horrible, horrible oversight. Hoffman : This has to be one of the worse blunders of his life. Kasparov : I was quite upset this morning with the board when I arrived, its minor .. but the blunders are building up, minor things .. his (arbiters) responsibility is to fix the board when I arrive. (* Garry is complaining about the fact that the board was switched, white was pointing towards him and he was to play black - this was repaired by the technicians *) : you make a blunder and the game is over .. you work hard for three hours you get a very good position a promising position and then you make one move and its over How much this effect, virtual reality will have on my psychology at the end of the match... the only way it showed up was to make this terrible blunder it had nothing to do with chess. .. it's another blunder The only satisfaction is the same today as it was when I lost to Deep Junior in game 3 was the result of my blunder .. it was nothing that the machine showed us .. I played well I had a very comfortable position and probably it was the given set of circumstances . To say I was winning would be an over statement.. but black has a very comfortable position. The machine made of number of positional mistakes .. I was building up my positional advantage .. I did not know how much this pressure (virtual reality) would show up at the end of the match, now I know. Yassar : what do you do to recover from this ? Kasparov : this had nothing to do with chess.. I should have decided before the match how to play this virtual reality my first reaction was this is a great. disadvantage for a human player ... why not ask for more time.. .. the talk was if you give the human player more time .. then the computer is handicap Just 15 minutes more and I could concentrate and probably at least not lose .. another thing the machine is not
playing the openings .. the machine is being dictated
by a grand
master
its not a random selection
the machine is being told
what opening to choose .. so thats why its an
... illusion
that it is only a machine
. I am not
complaining .. one idea is giving access to the human player to a
data base
conventional wisdom says.. if you have access to the
database
its not man vs. machine .. because you have access to this
power .. again why is the machine using a lot of peoples knowledge
.. in the opening its not man vs. machine.. the machine is being told what is the best opening.. I am talking about certain interferences .. that are being build in to the concept .. I have to struggle with that ..

| after the match there was a verbal altercation
between Kasparov and Albert Vasse (the arbiter). this was shown on the big
screen on the 9th floor.
Albert : Garry it's alright, it's alright Kasparov : (angry) NO, It's not alright.
(* apparently Garry was upset about the fact he board was not set up correctly when he arrived, white was facing him, and Garry was to play black this morning.. My photos show Garry being slightly upset *)
Yassar Sierawan also spoke of another issue during the game. Kasparov had gotten up from the board, the arbiter noticed that Gary's clock was still running. The arbiter asked Garry about his move, Garry told the arbiter the move. The arbiter told Garry that he had to make his move again via the Voice recognition software. Garry went back and made his move, apparently the voice recognition software did not get Gary's first attempt for this move..
