This Switzerland tobacco company sponsored the 2004 Chess World
Championship match between the 14th World Champion Vladimir Kramnik and
the Challenger Peter Leko. The prize fund was for 1 million swiss franks.
It was an exciting match to the final game. Kramnik took the lead in game
one, then Leko took the lead by winning games 5 and 8. Leko's win in
game 8 could go down as one of the most exciting games in world
championship history. Kramnik increased the pressure
the last quarter of the match and finally tied the match in the 14th and
final game. Kramnik retained his title. Dannemann did a great job hosting
and covering the match. It posted excellent post game press conferences on its
web site. This reporter would like to see Dannemann host more
exciting chess matches.
